Qubes App Launcher (blue/grey "Q") → Whonix-Workstation ™ App Qube (commonly named anon-whonix) → Xfce Terminal If you are using Qubes-Whonix ™, complete the following steps. For help with Whonix ™-related issues, see Support. Note that the official #Tor channel is on OFTC, but no Whonix ™ developers are active there! Upstream Tor developers do not support Whonix ™. It is recommended to add the securely encrypted version of the IRC server, preferably an onion service which uses SSL as a fallback or at best, both. All servers, besides the secure (SSL) version of the Open and Free Technology Community (OFTC) have been removed. HexChat in Whonix ™ has been hardened according to The Tor Project's Torrifying HexChat guide. It includes basic functionality found in IRC clients, like secure connections, multiple server connections, nick completion, a client-to-client protocol, direct client-to-client file transfer and chat, and a plugin system which allows extension of features and further customization. HexChat is an open source IRC client based on XChat. 2.5 Disabling Hardening and File Transfers.If you want to get into IRC or have to join one for work or play, at least now you have a few options for clients that work. Be small, easy to use, customizable and straightforward to live with. There are seven IRC clients for Windows and Linux in this list and they all seem to fulfill the core requirements. Despite not being developed any longer, it seems to work fine. HydraIRC seems simple enough with tabs for channels, lots of configuration options, customizations and theming. As far as I can tell, HydraIRC is no longer developed but the existing source code is available online. It is a multi-platform IRC client that works in Windows and Linux and supports plugins and other features. HydraIRC is another IRC client that has been recommended by someone I know. There are a good number of them and most have decent documentation to back them up. WeeChat is another chat client that begins simple and then can become something much more by using plugins. It also supports scripting, multiple languages, IPv6 and lots of other features. It works with Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD, Unix, GNU Hard and Mac OS X so will have wide appeal. If you’re American, WeeChat is a solid little IRC chat client for Linux and Mac.
